When the Weather is Fine

Attempts at pouring love onto paper

Thinking about whether 'love is written on paper' or not after my workout, my eyes land on a truck passing by in the next lane; it has a photo of Türkan Şoray and Kadir İnanır from the movie Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım, and underneath it reads: 'Don't forget, nothing stings as much as an unfinished love, my rose.' I smile; I love these kinds of coincidences.

As I park the car in front of the house and step out, my gaze catches a pharmacology textbook for the TUS exam in the car next to mine. This time, I let out a sigh and feel a bit melancholic, thinking, 'We wasted the years we were meant to fall in love on these books.' I sit at my desk, thinking it’s time to write about love, too. Truth be told, I don't even have an unfinished love story, and certainly not a completed one—that much is clear :D 'Do you remember a time when you were in love?' it asks. What was it like? Yes, even though I haven't thought about it for a long time, I remember. Your mind is always occupied with them; they are the center of the entire world. In your eyes, they are the most wonderful being, the best person. It’s as if every song was written for them, every poem tells their story. They are the only person worth loving, as if you could never love anyone else ever again...

The efforts you make just to see them a little more, the extra laps you take just to walk through the hallway they’ll pass by, your heart feeling like it’s going to jump out of your chest the moment their name is mentioned... I believe love is a feeling that makes you feel alive; without it, life always feels a bit incomplete, a bit dull. To be able to love someone without calculation, to accept them not just with their strengths but with all their wounds and flaws, is a massive and magical thing. Love is actually the reason for existence. Perhaps that is why I don't want to conclude this guest appearance on earth without living a passionate, full-blown love. I think those who taste this feeling are very fortunate. If a person can love someone, they are essentially loving the entire universe.

In an age where every step is calculated and even love is defined by tactics, maybe that magical love will knock on our door one day, who knows? By the way, if you love, leave the pride, the masks, and the tactics at home and go talk to them, because time is working against us :)
